A striking surge of shocking pink demands your attention in this painting.
Against the darkening sky, you are guided along a glowing path of fairy-lit trees toward the central star of the scene: the London Eye. The vibrant pink threads through the composition, pulling the viewer’s eye through the frame, from the shimmering lights on the trees, reflecting in the path and surrounding buildings, through to the towering wheel itself.
As night falls, the contrast between the bold colour and the encroaching darkness creates a mesmerizing dance of light and shadow. The London Eye stands illuminated, bathed in the glow of the night, while the pink trail that leads to it offers a vibrant reminder of the city’s electrifying energy, even in its quietest moments.
On my last trip to London, I snapped this moment just before the sky turned black, the Eye glowing in shocking pink, with an avenue of trees twinkling in matching fairy lights.
It sounds a little over the top, but I fell in love with the boldness of it… and I think it’s made for a pretty spectacular painting.
