The Mermaid Inn Original Art

In the south of England there is a gem of a town called Rye, although situated two miles from the sea, it used to be a busy port until the estuary slowly silted up and now it sits on a hill looking out towards Romney Marsh. One of the main ‘attractions’ of Rye is the well known ‘Mermaid Street’. A beautiful steep cobbled street surrounded by medieval inns and houses. Mermaid Inn is the building which gives the street its name.
