The Sleeping Kraken

A few weeks ago, we grabbed a coffee from the kiosk and got chatting with the owner Sarah about my nightscape paintings. She suggested I create one of The Kraken, and it immediately felt right. My mind was already whirring with ideas, and later that week we returned in the evening to take reference photos.

I began working on a couple of paintings, but was devastated to see that the kiosk had been graffitied. That moment gave me an extra push to keep going, I felt more motivated than ever to finish them.

I’m delighted to share that my smaller painting, The Sleeping Kraken, has now found its perfect home with Sarah, gifted to her by one of her close friends. Receiving that message, after sharing the work in progress, filled me with joy, and I’m so grateful that my work could bring a little light after such a difficult time. It’s a reminder of how art, friendship, and community kindness can come together to create something positive.
